"Letter to My Younger Self" is a Christian publication created for the Anglican Church, bringing together lessons, reflections, and personal stories gathered from married women to help younger women prepare for relationships, marriage, and life beyond it. The author drew from interviews and conversations with the women, combining their experiences and selected quotes with her own reflections to create a thoughtful, practical guide for the next generation.

Using Generated Assets in Book Design
APPROACH & RATIONALE
The title became the starting point for the visual concept. Rather than treating the illustrations as standalone decoration, the book uses a recurring female character to represent the younger self. Different versions of the character were developed to reflect different stages of her life, allowing the visual narrative to evolve alongside the stories.
AI tools including ChatGPT, Gemini, and Magnific were used to explore and generate variations of the character. The selected illustrations were then refined, traced, and converted into vector artwork in Adobe Illustrator, creating a consistent illustration style that could be adapted throughout the book.
The editorial system combined these illustrations with expressive typography, handwritten elements, structured layouts, and carefully paced chapter openings. Illustrations appear alongside the content to reinforce specific moments and themes in the narrative, from singlehood and longing to courtship, relationships, marriage, family, and personal growth.
The result is a book that uses visual storytelling to make a deeply personal collection of experiences feel more relatable and engaging, while giving the reader a consistent character to follow through the different stages of the story.
IMPACT
The final publication gave the collection a distinctive visual identity and transformed a text-heavy manuscript into a more immersive reading experience. The recurring character and evolving illustrations created a visual thread throughout the book, helping connect the different stories and themes while making the content feel more relatable and engaging. The client was delighted with the final publication and pleased with how the design brought the manuscript to life.
