CHARACTER PERSONALIZATION + SOCIAL MEDIA DESIGN

Designing a Social Campaign Celebrating Team Transitions for The Reinvention Lab

The Reinvention Lab wanted to celebrate temporary team members who had contributed to its workshops and initiatives, turning their departure into a moment of recognition rather than a simple farewell. The goal was to create a social campaign that highlighted each person's contribution while giving the series a distinct, celebratory visual identity.

APPROACH & RATIONALE

Each team member's photograph was transformed into a personalised illustrated portrait using Cartoonize AI, creating a consistent character style across the series. Vibrant starburst backgrounds were then developed around each portrait, using The Reinvention Lab's brand colours to introduce a sense of celebration and energy.

The portraits became the foundation for a wider social media system. Backgrounds were designed in Photoshop and Illustrator, combining paper textures, coloured tape, squiggles, and layered compositions to create a tactile, scrapbook-inspired aesthetic that felt playful and appropriate for an education-focused organisation.

The system was designed to work across multiple levels of the campaign, from individual personalised portraits to complete social media banners featuring each person's name, contribution, and farewell message. This allowed the visual language to remain consistent while giving every team member a distinct moment of recognition.

IMPACT

The campaign was well received by The Reinvention Lab, who requested additional personalised portraits with the starburst backgrounds for other members of the team. What began as a social farewell campaign evolved into a reusable visual treatment that could be extended across the wider team.
